Boston Thrashes Chicago – Who Won the Trade?

With the All-Star break coming up, the Celtics had just one last home game to negotiate. Last time out they were comprehensively beaten by the Knicks and needed to head into the break on a high. Amazingly they managed to do that inside two quarters – leading by 27 at the half. Payton Pritchard resumed his role as Boston’s sixth man, a role some say he was born to play, and dropped an impressive 26 points and 8 assists on excellent efficiency. But it was Nikola Vucevic against his former team that stole the show, the big man led both sides in +/-, whilst contributing a double-double. Has Brad Stevens done it again? Jordan Walsh, Jaylen Brown and Derrick White all played their part as Boston rolled out resounding 124-105 winners.

Jaylen Brown Stars at All-Star Weekend

It was a controversial weekend in LA for Jaylen Brown – who had an event with Oakley closed down on Saturday night by Beverley Hills police. Brown was extremely frustrated and felt there was little need to do so, nevertheless he took the floor on Sunday night hoping to put that behind him. The Atlanta native performed excellently in his sides opening fixture against the Stars leading his Stripes team in scoring helping them to advance to the final. Unfortunately, the now 5-time All-Star disappointed in the final shooting just 2-10 from the field (0-7 from three) on the way to an ugly loss to Anthony Edwards and the Stars.

The Season So Far – A Surprising Success?

After an 0-3 start to the season, I think many of us Celtics fans had one eye on the 2026 draft class. However, the team currently sits in second place in the Eastern Conference without Jayson Tatum and a number of the key players that won it all in 2024, some may ask well how is that possible? The short answer is this franchise is better than anybody knew it was from Brad Steven’s leadership and roster construction to Joe Mazzulla’s coaching and Jaylen Brown’s on-court ability. A lot of credit must be given to Mazzulla and his coaching staff who have extracted the very best from this roster, players like Neemias Queta, Jordan Walsh and Baylor Scheierman have all been key contributors, who were all viewed as unplayable just last year. Brown’s elevation to MVP candidate has also been key for Boston as he constantly sets a great tone and example for his teammates. Undoubtedly this season has been a success – but is the best yet to come for them with Tatum returning and the playoffs yet to come? We shall see but it has for sure been a great year to be a Celtics fan.
